Surabaya – The Entrepreneur Community of the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine (FPK) Universitas Airlangga showcased student innovation during the 18th Anniversary celebration of FPK Universitas Airlangga through a vibrant entrepreneurship bazaar. Taking advantage of the anniversary festivities, the student organization introduced and marketed a variety of student-developed products to members of the academic community and the public, demonstrating the entrepreneurial spirit fostered at FPK Universitas Airlangga.

The participation of the Entrepreneur Community reflected the faculty’s commitment to entrepreneurship education beyond the classroom. More than simply serving as a marketplace, the bazaar provided students with hands-on experience in managing a business, understanding consumer preferences, and developing practical marketing skills in a real-world environment.

Developing Students’ Entrepreneurial Competencies

During the 18th Anniversary bazaar, the Entrepreneur Community presented a diverse selection of products created and prepared by students. Visitors enjoyed a variety of offerings, including fish roe, pizza, fried snacks, and refreshing beverages, all produced and marketed directly by the students.

Their involvement demonstrated that learning at Universitas Airlangga extends beyond classrooms and laboratories by providing practical experiences that prepare students for careers in both industry and entrepreneurship.

Through direct interaction with customers, students gained valuable insights into business management, promotional strategies, customer service, and product evaluation. These experiences play an essential role in developing adaptable, innovative, and resilient entrepreneurial mindsets.

“The Entrepreneur Community serves as a platform where students can learn while putting their entrepreneurial skills into practice. Through this anniversary bazaar, we want to demonstrate that FPK Universitas Airlangga students are capable of creating high-quality products with strong market potential,” said Kaka, one of the Entrepreneur Community committee members.

A Marketplace for Learning and Product Promotion

The anniversary bazaar functioned not only as a sales venue but also as an effective platform for introducing student innovations to a broader audience. The enthusiastic response from visitors allowed students to receive direct feedback on product quality, flavor, packaging, and marketing approaches.

This real-world experience provided meaningful lessons that cannot be replicated in traditional classroom settings. Beyond strengthening technical business skills, the event also enhanced students’ communication, teamwork, creativity, and problem-solving abilities while managing real customer interactions.

Fostering an Entrepreneurial Mindset for Sustainable Impact

The Entrepreneur Community’s participation in the 18th Anniversary celebration highlights FPK Universitas Airlangga’s commitment to developing students holistically. Alongside academic excellence and expertise in fisheries and marine sciences, students are encouraged to cultivate entrepreneurial skills that enable them to transform innovative ideas into sustainable business opportunities.

This initiative supports SDG 1 (No Poverty) by empowering young people to create independent economic opportunities through entrepreneurship. The student-produced food products also contribute to SDG 2 (Zero Hunger) by promoting value-added fisheries-based food innovation.

Furthermore, the bazaar reflects SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) by strengthening collaboration among students, the faculty, and the wider community in building a dynamic entrepreneurial ecosystem within higher education.

Through the Entrepreneur Community, FPK Universitas Airlangga hopes to inspire more students to develop innovative business ideas, create competitive fisheries-based products, and graduate not only as job seekers but also as future job creators capable of contributing to sustainable economic growth.
