Field Work Practice (Internship Program) is one of the mandatory academic activities for students of the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences, Universitas Airlangga (FPK Unair). This program serves as a means for students to apply their academic knowledge, practical skills, and gain real-world work experience in the industrial field. It also aims to provide students with direct exposure to workplace conditions and to strengthen partnerships between the university and industry stakeholders. Each year, FPK Unair organizes a monitoring and evaluation activity for its Field Work Practice program, serving as an opportunity to collect valuable feedback from industry partners regarding students’ performance, work ethic, and contributions, as well as to foster stronger collaboration between FPK Unair and its external partners.
On Thursday, September 18, 2025, a team from FPK Unair consisting of two academic staff members—Dr. Ir. Adriana Monica Sahidu, M.Kes., and Dwi Yuli Pujiastuti, S.Pi., M.P., M.Sc.—and two administrative staff members, Anita Erna Faricha, S.Ptk, and Nurizky Aulia Rihadatul’ Ais, A.Md. M., visited PT. Inti Luhur Fuja Abadi (ILFA) located in the Pasuruan area. The team was warmly welcomed by company representatives, Mr. Iqdam and Mr. Joefat, who expressed their satisfaction with FPK Unair students’ performance during their internship at PT. ILFA. They highlighted that the students demonstrated excellent cooperation, creativity, and adaptability in aligning with the company’s work patterns. The next visit was conducted at PT. Legong Bali, also situated in Pasuruan. This company is well-known for producing popular seafood-based snacks, particularly shrimp and fish crackers that are widely enjoyed for their savory taste and high nutritional value. At this company, the FPK Unair team was received by Mr. Budi, who also gave positive feedback on the students’ performance. He noted that the students were disciplined, responsible, and easily engaged with other employees. Moreover, FPK Unair students were given the opportunity to present their final internship reports directly to PT. Legong Bali as part of a feedback and evaluation process conducted by the company.
On the following day, Friday, September 19, 2025, the FPK Unair team continued their evaluation visit to CV. Ismandanu Abhipraya Internasional, located in the Safe n Lock industrial warehouse complex, East Sidoarjo. The company warmly welcomed the team and expressed appreciation for the students’ active participation during their internship period. According to company representatives, FPK Unair students demonstrated high enthusiasm and professionalism in completing their assigned tasks. From all three companies visited—PT. Inti Luhur Fuja Abadi, PT. Legong Bali, and CV. Ismandanu Abhipraya Internasional—the management teams consistently emphasized the importance of equipping students with additional professional training, such as HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point) certification or other relevant technical training related to the fisheries and marine sector. Such programs are expected to enhance students’ competencies and better prepare them for future careers in the industry.
Through this Field Work Practice monitoring and evaluation activity, both the faculty and partner companies benefit greatly. The program enables the university to monitor student progress, assess learning outcomes, and strengthen communication with industry stakeholders. It also allows companies to provide constructive feedback, identify areas for improvement, and ensure that internship programs align with actual industry needs. This initiative reflects FPK Unair’s continuous commitment to producing graduates who are not only academically competent but also industry-ready, innovative, and capable of contributing effectively to the fisheries and marine sector in Indonesia and beyond.
