Surabaya, East Java – The Student Executive Board (BEM) of the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences, Universitas Airlangga (FPK UNAIR), held an Internal Aspiration and Mid-Term Performance Evaluation Forum in September 2025. The event, which took place from 3:00 to 5:00 PM at the Student Organization Room of FPK UNAIR, was attended by all executive members of the 2025 BEM FPK cabinet. Officially opened by the Ministry of Internal Empowerment and Development, the forum aimed to listen to aspirations from all staff, as well as to provide feedback and evaluation on the performance of each ministry during the first half of their tenure. The session underscored the importance of evaluation as a moment of reflection to strengthen collective performance and achieve the organization’s vision and mission.
During the evaluation session, the board highlighted several significant achievements from various ministries, many of which had successfully completed their flagship programs. Despite facing challenges during implementation, each ministry demonstrated responsiveness and adaptability in resolving issues efficiently. These challenges became valuable lessons that served as evaluation materials for improving the quality and impact of future programs. Through this reflective discussion, BEM FPK UNAIR reaffirmed its commitment to developing student-led initiatives that positively contribute to the academic community and surrounding society.
The internal aspiration forum unfolded dynamically with active participation from all staff members. Among the crucial points raised were the need for a structured mentorship system for new staff, the importance of transparent financial reporting on a regular basis, and the proposal for a digital-based monitoring system to track program progress. Strong aspirations were also expressed regarding the integration of sustainability and environmental awareness into the board’s agenda—an issue deemed highly relevant to the vision and mission of the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences. These discussions demonstrated the students’ growing awareness of the importance of responsible leadership and adaptive management in addressing modern challenges in marine and fisheries development.
As a follow-up to the forum, a collective commitment was established to enhance synergy between ministries and optimize internal communication. This event was not merely a platform for evaluation but also a moment to reinforce internal solidarity and strengthen teamwork among BEM FPK members. The spirit of collaboration and shared responsibility was seen as essential for ensuring that the remaining term’s programs are implemented with higher quality and broader impact. Through this effort, BEM FPK UNAIR continues to embody the spirit of innovation, accountability, and service excellence, reflecting the values upheld by Universitas Airlangga in fostering future leaders who are competent, ethical, and socially engaged.
