FPK UNAIR Strengthens Global Collaboration Through Student Mobility

The Student Outbound Program is one of FPK UNAIR’s long-term strategies to enhance academic partnerships with international institutions. This initiative aligns with UNAIR’s mission to foster globally competitive graduates by encouraging students to learn directly from world-class universities.

The 2025 program selected four outstanding students after a rigorous selection process. Throughout the visit, participants engaged in academic discussions, university tours, and cross-cultural exchanges designed to improve their understanding of global fisheries and marine sciences. The experience provided valuable insight into international learning environments and inspired students to contribute to research and innovation in Indonesia’s aquaculture sector.

Selection Process: From Administration to Interview Stage

To qualify for the Student Outbound Program, candidates must complete several selection stages — beginning with administrative screening, followed by an interview session, and finally pre-departure preparation.

During the administrative stage, applicants are required to submit key documents, including a student ID card (KTM), ELPT English test certificate, and academic transcript (KHS). Eligibility criteria include an ELPT score of at least 450 and a GPA above 3.0. Students are also encouraged to prepare their passports early to increase their chances of selection.

In the interview stage, participants face a panel of lecturers and must communicate fluently in English. This stage assesses the candidate’s confidence, motivation, and readiness to represent UNAIR abroad. The key to success, according to past participants, is to stay confident, practice English-speaking skills, and demonstrate clear enthusiasm for international collaboration.

Pre-Departure Preparations and Success Tips

After passing the administrative and interview stages, selected students receive confirmation and enter the pre-departure preparation phase. At this stage, participants must ensure they are fully prepared — both mentally and physically — for the journey ahead.

Some key tips for outbound readiness include:

  1. Commitment and integrity — remember that you represent the reputation of Universitas Airlangga.

  2. Stay healthy — maintain physical fitness and mental resilience to adapt to new environments.

  3. Prepare your ideas — bring innovative thoughts to share during academic exchanges at partner universities.

Through this outbound initiative, FPK UNAIR encourages students to embrace global learning opportunities and contribute positively to the international academic community. As the motto proudly declares: “Salam Iwak Iwak Iwak!” — a call for enthusiasm, unity, and excellence among fisheries students worldwide.
