The Student Interest and Talent Division of the Fisheries Product Technology Student Association (SEMIKAT HIMATEKHIKAN), Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences at Universitas Airlangga (FPK UNAIR), successfully organized Funsport Badminton 2026 on Monday, April 27, 2026, at GOR GSG Semampir, Surabaya. The program was designed as a recreational sports activity aimed at strengthening solidarity and togetherness among active students of the Fisheries Product Technology Study Program. Through a healthy and enjoyable badminton competition, the event created an inclusive environment that encouraged interaction and collaboration among students from different academic batches.

The badminton-themed Funsport program was chosen due to the high enthusiasm and interest of students toward the sport. Organized by SEMIKAT HIMATEKHIKAN, the activity served not only as a sports event but also as a medium for strengthening interpersonal relationships within the academic community. Participants from various cohorts were paired and matched against students from different batches, such as 2025 students competing alongside or against 2024 students. This competition system encouraged broader social interaction and created opportunities for students to communicate and collaborate with peers outside their immediate academic circles.

The event began with a gathering session followed by warm-up exercises to maintain physical fitness and minimize the risk of injuries during the matches. Afterward, participants joined badminton matches conducted in a fun and friendly atmosphere. The pairing system successfully fostered direct interaction among students across generations, allowing them to exchange experiences related to academic life, organizational involvement, and student activities. Beyond competition, the event became a social space where students could engage in meaningful conversations and strengthen emotional connections within the Fisheries Product Technology community.

Throughout the activity, participants demonstrated high enthusiasm and active engagement. The relaxed yet competitive environment contributed to building stronger solidarity and mutual support among students. By emphasizing enjoyment rather than competition alone, the program encouraged inclusivity and strengthened the sense of belonging among participants. The activity also reflected the importance of balancing academic responsibilities with recreational and social activities that support holistic student development.

The implementation of Funsport Badminton 2026 generated numerous positive impacts for students. Besides enhancing interpersonal relationships, the activity also promoted unity, teamwork, and solidarity among Fisheries Product Technology students in a fun and approachable manner. In the midst of demanding academic schedules and coursework, the event served as a refreshing outlet that helped students maintain both physical and mental well-being. This highlights the importance of student-centered activities in creating a healthy and supportive academic environment.

In addition, the program contributed to strengthening the professional and academic image of Fisheries Product Technology students as active, collaborative, and socially engaged individuals who uphold values of sportsmanship, ethics, and solidarity. The activity also demonstrated how student organizations can play a strategic role in fostering student welfare and community building within higher education institutions.

Funsport Badminton 2026 strongly aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-Being) through the promotion of physical activity and student wellness. The activity also supports SDG 14 (Life Below Water) by strengthening the academic community within the fisheries and marine sector, encouraging collaboration among future professionals in marine and fisheries sciences. Through initiatives like this, FPK UNAIR continues to support the development of students not only academically, but also socially and emotionally.

Through the successful implementation of Funsport Badminton 2026, SEMIKAT HIMATEKHIKAN reaffirmed its commitment to creating meaningful student activities that foster togetherness, well-being, and collaboration. The program is expected to continue strengthening solidarity among students while contributing to a more inclusive and dynamic academic environment within FPK UNAIR.
