UNAIR Fisheries Students Learn Mental Health Management Through MINCARE 2025

On Saturday, September 20, 2025, the Fisheries Product Technology Student Association (HIMATEKHIKAN) of the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences, Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) successfully held an inspiring event titled MINCARE (Mental Health and Stress Management Seminar). Organized by the Student Welfare Division, the seminar aimed to raise awareness among first-year students about the importance of maintaining mental well-being and managing academic stress effectively. The event featured Sucipto, the Runner-up of Universitas Airlangga Ambassador 2023 and a 2022 Psychology student, as the keynote speaker. With an engaging and approachable presentation style, Sucipto shared valuable insights on coping with academic pressure, applying simple yet effective stress management techniques, and understanding the significance of mental health from an early stage of university life. His message was both practical and motivational, encouraging participants to face university challenges with a positive and balanced mindset.

The interactive nature of the session was one of the event’s highlights. Students actively participated in open discussions and Q&A sessions, expressing their thoughts and sharing personal experiences. The dialogue created a dynamic and supportive learning atmosphere where participants felt comfortable to reflect and engage. Sucipto provided relatable real-life examples of how students could deal with stress in their daily academic activities—ranging from simple relaxation methods and effective time management to maintaining a healthy balance between study and social life. This two-way interaction not only deepened theoretical understanding but also equipped students with hands-on strategies to apply in real situations during their academic journey.

Beyond being a typical seminar, MINCARE became a safe and inclusive space for students to connect, share experiences, and support one another. Smiles and open conversations between participants and the speaker reflected a genuine sense of empathy and solidarity. The event emphasized that mental health is a shared responsibility—one that requires awareness, compassion, and active engagement within the academic community. The discussions fostered empathy and emotional intelligence among new students, encouraging them to build a culture of care and mutual understanding within the faculty.

By the end of the event, participants left with greater emotional readiness to face the demands of university life. MINCARE 2025 not only provided essential knowledge about stress management and mental health but also cultivated a culture of awareness and inclusivity at the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences, Universitas Airlangga. This initiative reflects the faculty’s commitment to supporting students’ holistic well-being—preparing them not only as capable scholars but also as emotionally resilient individuals who value mental wellness as an integral part of academic success.
