The final session of the study visit series at the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine (FPK) Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) provided students with an overview of study opportunities and global experiences available through the faculty. The session was delivered by Terry Previo Avianto, M.Si., who introduced the undergraduate programs in Aquaculture and Fisheries Product Technology (THP), along with various opportunities for students to broaden their academic and professional experiences.
Mr. Terry explained that learning at FPK UNAIR extends beyond the classroom. Students have opportunities to participate in various activities that enrich their academic and professional experiences, one of which is the student mobility program. Through this program, students can experience academic environments outside the university while developing international networks.
These opportunities are supported by FPK UNAIR’s partnerships with universities and institutions across several countries, including Malaysia, Thailand, Taiwan, and Japan. Through these networks, students can participate in various activities such as fieldwork internships, student outbound programs, academic exchanges, and other collaborative activities.
“Students have opportunities to gain experience outside campus through various student mobility programs, including fieldwork internships and student outbound programs supported by partners from different countries,” Mr. Terry explained.
In addition to student opportunities, Mr. Terry also introduced the potential for collaboration between FPK UNAIR and various stakeholders and institutions. External partnerships are not limited to educational activities but can also be developed through research collaboration. This provides students with an understanding that higher education ecosystems involve universities, industries, institutions, and various other partners in advancing knowledge.
The introduction served as an important part of the study visit by providing students with an overview of educational pathways and experiences they may pursue when continuing their studies at FPK UNAIR. Students are not only prepared to engage in academic learning but are also given opportunities to develop networks and gain cross-border experiences.
Through this session, students were introduced to a higher education environment connected to global networks. This approach supports SDG 4 (Quality Education) by providing access to broader learning experiences, while also contributing to SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) through strengthened collaboration between FPK UNAIR, higher education institutions, and various stakeholders at the international level.
