On March 23, 2025, the Aquaculture Student Association (HIMAKUA) of Universitas Airlangga successfully held the CORAL x RAMCER event, fostering solidarity, social responsibility, and meaningful Ramadan experiences for orphans while promoting inter-student collaboration with Politeknik Perkapalan Negeri Surabaya.
The CORAL x RAMCER event was designed to strengthen camaraderie among HIMAKUA members, enhance students’ social awareness, and create a meaningful Ramadan experience for orphans in the surrounding community. The activity was also a collaborative effort with HIMADEC (Ship Design and Construction Student Association) of Politeknik Perkapalan Negeri Surabaya, aiming to encourage inter-association cooperation, exchange of resources, knowledge sharing, skill enrichment, and creative idea generation for larger and more diverse events. This collaboration exemplifies the spirit of teamwork and innovation among student organizations.
The event took place from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM and began with an opening by the MC, followed by welcoming speeches from the leaders of both associations and the orphanage administrators. A Quranic recitation session was held together with the children, which was followed by joint verse memorization. The activities continued with ice-breaking games and entertaining sessions for the children, while some committee members distributed iftar meals at the ITS (Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember) roundabout. Participants’ enthusiasm peaked during the games and interactive sessions while waiting for the breaking of the fast.
As iftar approached, members of HIMAKUA and HIMADEC, together with the children, prepared food and drinks for breaking the fast. After iftar, participants performed the Maghrib prayer together. The event concluded with gift-giving for the children, including donations of basic necessities, clothing, and shoes collected through an open donation initiative organized by both associations. Additionally, snack packages and monetary donations were distributed to orphans, ensuring that every child felt included and cared for.
CORAL x RAMCER successfully served as a platform for strengthening faith and piety while promoting unity among Muslim students. The program also emphasized the importance of empathy, social responsibility, and community engagement. Organizers hope that the event will leave a positive impact on the wider community and continue to inspire acts of sharing and collaboration in the future. Through this initiative, HIMAKUA and HIMADEC demonstrated how student organizations can contribute meaningfully to society while fostering teamwork, creativity, and a sense of belonging.
