The Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences (FPK) Universitas Airlangga, through FPK Ambassadors, successfully organized a benchmarking visit with the Ambassadors of the Faculty of Science and Technology (FST) on Saturday, June 13, 2026. Held from 12:30 PM to 5:00 PM at the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences, the event served as a platform for both faculty ambassador organizations to exchange experiences, broaden perspectives, and establish collaborative relationships that support student capacity development as faculty representatives. Bringing together 30 participants from both ambassador organizations, the program fostered an engaging and inspiring atmosphere that encouraged meaningful interaction and knowledge sharing.
Throughout the event, participants had the opportunity to gain deeper insights into the organizational systems, flagship programs, and development strategies implemented by each faculty ambassador organization. The benchmarking session began with opening remarks and introductions from representatives of both faculties, followed by presentations highlighting the profiles of FPK Ambassadors and FST Ambassadors. During these presentations, participants shared information about their organizational structures, work programs, previous activities, and innovative initiatives designed to strengthen their roles as faculty representatives and student leaders within Universitas Airlangga.
The program continued with an interactive sharing session and discussion forum that provided participants with a space to exchange ideas on personal branding, public communication skills, leadership development, and strategies for promoting a positive faculty image. The discussions were highly dynamic, allowing participants to ask questions, contribute opinions, and explore potential collaborative projects that could be developed jointly in the future. Through these exchanges, both ambassador organizations gained valuable insights into best practices and innovative approaches that can enhance student engagement and organizational effectiveness. More importantly, the activity reinforced the importance of collaboration among students from different academic backgrounds while strengthening the sense of unity within the Universitas Airlangga community.
As representatives of the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences, FPK Ambassadors also introduced sustainability values that are closely associated with fisheries and marine sciences. The event highlighted how collaboration among student ambassador organizations can serve as an effective strategy for promoting awareness of marine conservation, environmental stewardship, and the responsible use of aquatic resources. These efforts align with the principles of Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 14, Life Below Water, which emphasizes the conservation and sustainable use of oceans, seas, and marine resources. Furthermore, increasing student understanding of fisheries and marine issues contributes to SDG 2, Zero Hunger, by supporting the role of the fisheries sector in strengthening global food security through sustainable resource management.
The benchmarking visit concluded successfully and provided a valuable learning experience for all participants. The organizers hope that the activity will become the starting point for future collaborations between the two faculties in academic, organizational, and student creativity development initiatives. “Through this benchmarking program, I hope the strong relationship between FPK Ambassadors and FST Ambassadors will continue to grow and become the foundation for inspiring and meaningful collaborations in the future,” said Metha, Chairperson of the Benchmarking Visit Organizing Committee. The event demonstrated that synergy among student organizations can create productive learning environments that encourage innovation, mutual growth, and positive contributions to Universitas Airlangga and the wider community. Through continued cooperation and the exchange of experiences, both ambassador organizations are expected to play an increasingly significant role in fostering leadership, creativity, and student engagement while supporting the university’s commitment to sustainable development and collaborative excellence.
