Surabaya – The Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences (FPK), Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR), held its June 2026 Graduation Ceremony (Yudisium) on Thursday (June 25, 2026), marking an important academic milestone for students who had successfully completed all graduation requirements before entering the professional world or pursuing higher education. The ceremony was attended by 17 graduating students who had fulfilled all academic obligations and were officially declared graduates.
The event was attended by the faculty leadership, academic staff, the Head of the Administrative Office, the Head of the Fish Processing Technology Study Program, and the graduating students. Beyond formally confirming students’ academic completion, the ceremony also served as a moment of reflection and professional encouragement, preparing graduates to face future challenges in industry, research, and community engagement.
Vice Dean II of the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences, Kustiawan Tri Pursetyo, S.Pi., M.Vet., Ph.D., officially opened the ceremony by emphasizing that graduation should be viewed as the beginning of a new chapter rather than the conclusion of one’s educational journey.
“Graduation is not the end of your journey, but the first step into a much broader world filled with opportunities and challenges. Stay committed, work diligently, and continue learning, because perseverance is the key to achieving success,” he remarked.
His message reminded graduates that the academic knowledge and competencies they had acquired during their studies at FPK UNAIR should continue to be developed through professional experience, research, and further education. Such continuous learning will enable them to make meaningful contributions to the advancement of Indonesia’s fisheries and marine sectors.
During the ceremony, Heru Pramono, S.Pi., M.Biotech., Ph.D., Head of the Fish Processing Technology Study Program, also encouraged graduates to maintain strong relationships with their alma mater. According to him, the bond between alumni and the faculty extends far beyond graduation, creating a lifelong professional community that supports academic advancement and career development.
“Never forget the faculty and lecturers who have been part of your academic journey. The relationship between alumni and the faculty continues long after graduation, creating a mutually beneficial partnership that supports both graduates and the institution,” he said.
He further explained that alumni networks play a strategic role in institutional development by fostering research collaborations, supporting graduate career advancement, and sharing professional experiences with current students.
Through this graduation ceremony, FPK UNAIR celebrated not only the academic achievements of its students but also reaffirmed its commitment to producing graduates with integrity, professional competence, and a lifelong passion for learning. Strong character, work ethics, and alumni networking are expected to become valuable assets that enable graduates to contribute meaningfully to the sustainable development of the fisheries and marine sciences sector.
The event also reflects FPK UNAIR’s commitment to advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). By providing quality higher education and producing competent graduates, the ceremony supports SDG 4 (Quality Education). Graduates are also expected to contribute to sustainable fisheries and aquatic resource management in line with SDG 14 (Life Below Water). Furthermore, strengthening alumni networks promotes SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) by encouraging collaboration among higher education institutions, industry, government, and society.
As members of the Universitas Airlangga community, graduates are expected to carry the academic values and professional competencies they have gained throughout their studies into society and become agents of positive change, particularly in advancing the fisheries and marine sciences sector.
