The Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences, Universitas Airlangga (FPK UNAIR), once again enriched its Ramadan 2026 celebration through a spiritually and intellectually engaging Ramadan Study session. Organized by the Student Executive Board (BEM) FPK UNAIR in collaboration with the Islamic Spiritual Division (SKI OASE), the event featured Ustadz Ahmad Syauqi, S.Hum., M.Si., a lecturer from the Faculty of Humanities, Universitas Airlangga, as the keynote speaker. Held in the morning at Building C501–502, the session attracted enthusiastic participation from students, lecturers, and academic staff, reflecting a strong commitment to fostering spiritual growth within the academic environment.

The activity took place from 09:00 to 11:00 WIB and was structured in a well-organized sequence of events. Participants from diverse academic backgrounds attended the session with great attentiveness, creating a reflective and interactive atmosphere throughout the program. The Ramadan Study was not limited to a one-way lecture; instead, it encouraged active engagement through discussions and a question-and-answer session. This interactive format allowed participants to deepen their understanding of various aspects of worship during Ramadan while directly consulting the speaker on practical and spiritual matters. The event demonstrated how academic institutions can integrate religious enrichment into campus life, promoting a holistic approach to education that balances intellectual and spiritual development.

In his presentation, Ustadz Ahmad Syauqi emphasized the essence of fasting as more than a physical act of abstaining from food and drink. He highlighted fasting as a form of self-discipline that fosters emotional control, moral integrity, and spiritual awareness. According to him, Ramadan provides a valuable opportunity for individuals to reflect on their behavior, guard their speech, and strengthen their relationship with Allah SWT. His communicative and relatable delivery made complex spiritual concepts accessible to all participants, regardless of their level of prior understanding. By framing fasting as a transformative practice, he encouraged attendees to view Ramadan as a period of personal growth and character development.

The session also explored the significance of Lailatul Qadar, one of the most sacred nights in Ramadan. Ustadz Ahmad Syauqi explained that acts of worship performed on this night carry rewards equivalent to a thousand months, making it a powerful motivation for Muslims to intensify their عبادah, particularly during the last ten nights of Ramadan. In addition, the discussion addressed the obligation of zakat for financially capable Muslims, highlighting its dual role as both a spiritual duty and a social mechanism for redistributing wealth. He emphasized that a portion of one’s wealth inherently belongs to those in need, making zakat an essential instrument in fostering social justice and community welfare. This perspective reinforced the interconnectedness between personal piety and social responsibility.

The Ramadan Study initiative aims to enhance religious understanding among the academic community of FPK UNAIR, particularly in relation to worship practices during the holy month. Beyond knowledge enrichment, the program seeks to cultivate spiritual awareness, strengthen Islamic values, and promote a harmonious and religious campus environment. The benefits extend beyond the event itself, contributing to the development of students’ character, ethical awareness, and social responsibility in their daily lives. By integrating spiritual education into campus activities, FPK UNAIR continues to demonstrate its commitment to nurturing well-rounded graduates.

Through the successful implementation of the Ramadan Study 2026, FPK UNAIR reaffirms the vital role of student organizations in supporting not only academic excellence but also spiritual and social development. The event serves as a meaningful platform for internalizing religious values and translating them into real-life practices. It is expected that the insights gained from this activity will inspire the academic community to embody the principles of Ramadan in their everyday lives, ultimately contributing to the creation of a more compassionate, ethical, and socially responsible campus environment.
