From Conventional Promotion to Broader Market Reach

On August 8, 2026, SALMON through its Economic Division conducted the Digital Marketing for Village UMKM program in Begaganlimo Village. The program was designed to help local Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (UMKM) become more familiar with and utilize digital technology as a means of introducing and promoting their products to a wider audience.

Introducing Branding and Leveraging Technology to Strengthen Businesses

During the activity, UMKM owners were introduced to several practical aspects closely related to their daily business needs. These included an introduction to branding to establish a clearer business identity, the use of Google Maps to make business locations easier to find, and simple product photography techniques to create more appealing product displays. Participants were also introduced to creating promotional posters and utilizing social media as a platform to expand their marketing reach.

“We hope this activity can help UMKM owners become more familiar with and make better use of digital technology, so that products from Begaganlimo can become more widely known and reach more people,” said Martadi, Head of Begaganlimo Village.

From Simple Steps to More Adaptive UMKM

The significance of the activity lies not only in introducing various digital platforms, but also in translating technology into simple solutions that can be directly applied to everyday business activities. An easily accessible location on Google Maps, more attractive product photos, consistent business branding, and informative promotional posters can all contribute to helping UMKM establish a stronger presence in the digital space.

This initiative supports SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), particularly by strengthening community-based businesses and creating opportunities for economic development through capacity building. Through the knowledge gained from the program, UMKM owners are expected not only to understand the importance of digital marketing but also to become more confident in applying it to support their business development.

Through Digital Marketing for Village UMKM, SALMON seeks to demonstrate that digital transformation does not always have to begin with complicated steps. Simple efforts to introduce products, build a business identity, and utilize digital media can serve as an initial foundation for UMKM in Begaganlimo Village to expand their market reach. Ultimately, the program represents an effort to encourage local businesses to continue growing and become more adaptable to the changing times.
