As an ichthyologist, Dr. Veryl Hasan is more than just a lecturer at the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine (FPK), Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR). With his recognition as a Top 2% Scientist of 2024, Dr. Veryl has elevated his research on fish and aquatic ecosystems to the global stage.
Ichthyology is the branch of science that studies various types of fish, focusing on taxonomy, environment, and biology. Beyond that, Dr. Veryl also concentrates on fisheries and marine conservation, key aspects in this sector.
Dr. Veryl believes that Indonesia holds enormous potential in the fisheries sector, but this potential must be met with skilled professionals. “UNAIR has a major role in producing experts for the fisheries sector,” he said. With the faculty’s support and the development of human resources, UNAIR is committed to producing professionals capable of driving change.
