In Episode 6 of the series “#FisheriesAroundTheGlobe,” Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Affairs Universitas Airlangga (FPK Unair) highlights the experiences of students participating in a research internship program in Malaysia. This program is one of FPK Unair’s internationalization measures to provide students with global insights in the field of fisheries and marine affairs.
The students involved get the rare opportunity to work directly on international research projects at various leading fisheries institutions in Malaysia. In this episode, viewers will see how the students faced the challenges of adapting to a new research environment, collaborating with scientists, and learning from research approaches applied overseas.
The challenges faced during the internship are not only research-related, but also cultural and linguistic, enriching the students’ experience. From working in the lab to working in the field, they learn practical skills that support their academic and professional abilities. In addition, they are also taught to think globally and critically in dealing with fisheries issues facing the world today.
Through this program, FPK Unair students not only deepen their academic understanding, but also expand their international network which will be very beneficial in the future. This episode shows that Unair’s Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences continues to be committed to opening up global opportunities for its students, encouraging them to become competent graduates in the international job market.
