Cak Vito Reyner Adriananda, S.Pi., an alumnus of the Fishery Product Technology Study Program, Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences (FPK), Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR), is a shining example of how innovation and entrepreneurship can grow hand in hand with education. Known affectionately as “Cak” — a local term of camaraderie among FPK alumni — Vito has been actively engaged in entrepreneurship since his undergraduate years. Currently serving as the Director of PT Rezeki Bintang Samudra, he completed his final thesis through the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) conversion program. “Alhamdulillah, together with the Founder and President Director of PT Rejeki Bintang Samudra, Cak Satriyo, S.Pi. (an Aquaculture alumnus of FPK UNAIR), we received funding from the Ministry of Education’s Student Entrepreneurship Development Program, which was recognized as my final thesis project for graduation,” Vito explained.
As the Director of a growing aquaculture enterprise, Cak Vito leads operations focusing on polyculture pond systems cultivating Gracilaria verrucosa (seaweed) and milkfish. His management approach emphasizes efficiency, sustainability, and local empowerment. Looking ahead, he aims to expand the company’s role as a seaweed aggregator supplying raw materials to processing industries while developing diversified derivative products. “Our goal is to strengthen the value chain of local aquaculture products while supporting Indonesia’s blue economy movement,” he said, reflecting the entrepreneurial spirit deeply rooted in UNAIR’s mission to foster impactful graduates.
During his studies, Vito not only honed his business acumen but also his leadership abilities. He served as the Head of “JALADHI 2023” — an orientation and character-building program for new FPK students — and later as the Vice President of the FPK UNAIR Student Executive Board in 2024. These experiences shaped his capacity to lead, communicate, and inspire collaboration, bridging academic knowledge with real-world application. His dynamic involvement exemplifies the balance between intellectual pursuit and community development that UNAIR promotes through its student leadership ecosystem.
Beyond campus and entrepreneurship, Cak Vito’s innovative mindset earned international recognition. Alongside his fellow FPK UNAIR students, he won two silver medals at the Bangkok International Intellectual Property, Invention, Innovation, and Technology Exposition (IPITEx) 2025. This achievement underscored the global competitiveness of UNAIR’s young innovators and demonstrated how research and creativity can generate real-world impact in the fisheries sector. “Innovation is not just about technology — it’s about creating solutions that matter,” Vito stated, highlighting the university’s continuous efforts to integrate research, education, and entrepreneurship for sustainable marine development.
From managing aquaculture operations to mentoring younger peers, Cak Vito’s journey reflects the spirit of Universitas Airlangga’s vision: excellence with moral integrity. His story stands as an inspiration for students and alumni alike — to innovate, lead, and contribute meaningfully to Indonesia’s fisheries and marine industries through sustainable entrepreneurship.
