Jakarta, September 14, 2025 — Students from Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) have once again brought pride to the nation by winning a Silver Medal at the prestigious Indonesia Inventors Day (IID) 2025, held at SMESCO Hall, Jakarta, from September 11–14, 2025. The annual international innovation event, which has been running since 2020, brought together 1,180 participants from 42 countries, including leading inventors and innovators from Romania, Thailand, South Korea, and Poland.

In this global competition, the UNAIR team presented their groundbreaking project titled “SEAL: Development of the AI-Integrated Sea Learning Adventure Application Engagement for Action and Learning in Ocean Conservation through the Pancasila Student Profile Project.” The innovation, SEAL (Sea Learning Adventure), is an AI-powered educational platform that integrates virtual learning with real-world ocean conservation actions. Designed as an interactive edutainment app, SEAL allows users—particularly students—to explore marine ecosystems through gamified lessons, digital challenges, and field-based missions such as beach clean-ups, coral gardening, and citizen science participation.

What makes SEAL stand out is its foundation in Indonesia’s Pancasila Student Profile Reinforcement Project (P5)—a project-based learning model that cultivates critical thinking, collaboration, independence, and environmental awareness. Through SEAL, students not only gain theoretical knowledge but also engage in hands-on environmental projects that embody Pancasila values in real-life action. The application bridges technology, education, and sustainability, positioning it as both a learning tool and a social innovation.

Beyond its educational goals, SEAL contributes to multiple Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). By improving access to interactive environmental education, it aligns with SDG 4 (Quality Education). Through promoting youth participation in environmental initiatives, it supports SDG 13 (Climate Action). Moreover, its focus on marine ecosystem preservation directly strengthens SDG 14 (Life Below Water). Thus, SEAL not only advances digital education but also delivers tangible solutions to address global sustainability challenges through youth empowerment and innovation.

The SEAL development team consists of Andini Ariani Carolina and Alfito Putra Ginarta (Fisheries Product Technology), Dionisius Jeconia Soerjanto and Ishak Vransisco Waraney Goklas Pandjaitan (Robotics and Artificial Intelligence Engineering), Muhammad Adrian Wirakusumah (Information Systems), and Alifah Rahmah (Nanotechnology Engineering). They also collaborated with Farrel Bhanu Mahardhika from the University of Technology Kalimantan. Competing against strong international contenders from South Korea and Thailand, the UNAIR team’s SEAL project earned the Silver Medal in the Information, Communication, and Technology/IoT and Apps/Educational and Teaching Tools Materials category.

This achievement underscores the commitment of UNAIR students to fostering innovation, education, and environmental sustainability on the global stage. By integrating technology with the spirit of Pancasila education, the SEAL project reflects UNAIR’s dedication to developing creative, socially conscious, and future-ready scholars who contribute meaningfully to global challenges. The team’s success not only demonstrates the quality of UNAIR’s academic and research excellence but also serves as an inspiration for other young innovators in Indonesia to embrace science and technology for a better and more sustainable world.
