Airlangga Student Wins 2nd Best Presenter Nationally

Surabaya, May 28, 2025 – A student from Universitas Airlangga’s Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences has achieved national recognition by winning second place in the Best Student Presenter category at the Arunika National Webinar. The event, themed “The 3rd ISARM (International Symposium On Aquatic Sciences And Resource Management),” took place on June 19–20, 2025, highlighting collaborative efforts for sustainable aquatic ecosystems.


Syaharani Destia Winandra, an Aquaculture student specializing in Marine Science and Technology, represented Universitas Airlangga with her research on “Water Quality Analysis and Trophic Status of Coastal Waters in Bomo, Banyuwangi, East Java.” Throughout the webinar, she delivered a thorough and well-structured presentation, impressing the panel of judges and securing her position as one of the top student presenters nationwide. Her research emphasized critical environmental parameters, providing insight into the ecological health of coastal waters, which is crucial for sustainable fisheries management and marine resource conservation.

During the webinar, which gathered students, academics, and practitioners from across Indonesia, Syaharani showcased not only her scientific knowledge but also strong communication and analytical skills. Her ability to answer questions, interpret data, and contextualize findings contributed significantly to her recognition. This accomplishment reflects both her dedication to research excellence and the high-quality mentorship provided by faculty members.

Expressing her pride and gratitude, Syaharani said, “This was a completely new experience, and at first, I didn’t expect this outcome, especially after encountering minor challenges. Thankfully, everything went smoothly. I would also like to sincerely thank Bu Nina Nurmalia Dewi, S. Pi., M. Si., for her guidance and invaluable support throughout the preparation process.” Her statement highlights the importance of mentorship in academic achievement and professional development.
