The Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences (FPK), Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR), organized the 2026 Field Work Practice (Praktik Kerja Lapangan/PKL) Socialization for the Class of 2023 students from the Undergraduate Aquaculture and Fisheries Product Technology programs on Friday, 20 February 2026. The event took place in Rooms B302–304, Building B, FPK UNAIR, and marked a strategic initial step in preparing students to undertake their internships in a structured, well-directed, and outcome-based manner aligned with each study program’s learning objectives. As part of its academic commitment, FPK UNAIR designed this session to ensure that students enter the professional environment with adequate preparation, both administratively and technically, while maintaining alignment with national higher education standards and industry expectations.
The socialization session was attended by Class of 2023 students from both study programs and featured speakers including the respective Heads of Study Programs, the MBKM (Merdeka Belajar–Kampus Merdeka) Program Coordinator, the Vice Dean I, and a direct briefing from the Dean of FPK UNAIR. Through this comprehensive forum, the faculty provided detailed explanations regarding PKL implementation guidelines, covering registration procedures, academic prerequisites, placement timelines, and institutional coordination mechanisms. The session clarified key aspects of internship preparation to ensure students understand their responsibilities before entering partner institutions, companies, research centers, or government agencies within the fisheries and marine sector. By involving faculty leadership and program coordinators, FPK UNAIR demonstrated institutional synergy in ensuring that the internship program remains academically rigorous, professionally relevant, and administratively efficient.
During the presentation, students received thorough explanations about administrative procedures, location proposal stages, academic supervision systems, and reporting mechanisms for PKL outcomes. The speakers also emphasized professional ethics standards, technical competency readiness, and academic accountability that must be upheld throughout the internship period. Importantly, the session addressed not only the “what” and “how” of PKL implementation but also the “why.” PKL is positioned as a crucial bridge between theoretical knowledge gained in classrooms and its practical application within the fisheries and marine industries. As a faculty dedicated to sustainable marine and fisheries resource development, FPK UNAIR ensures that PKL activities contribute to global strategic issues, particularly SDG 14 (Life Below Water) through sustainable marine resource management practices and SDG 13 (Climate Action) by integrating climate adaptation and mitigation principles in aquaculture and fisheries product processing. Collaboration with industry partners and institutional stakeholders further reflects SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals), strengthening cross-sector cooperation in education and workforce preparation.
Through this socialization, FPK UNAIR reaffirmed its commitment to academic quality and professional readiness by ensuring that every student prepares for PKL systematically and responsibly. The structured explanation of procedures and expectations is intended to minimize administrative obstacles while enhancing students’ confidence in facing real-world professional challenges. As part of strengthening the academic ecosystem, students were also encouraged to explore the official profiles and academic achievements of the Aquaculture and Fisheries Product Technology study programs through FPK UNAIR’s official website. This information serves as an essential reference for aligning internship placements with individual interests, competencies, and future career aspirations. Ultimately, the 2026 PKL Socialization serves as a foundational milestone for the Class of 2023 students, guiding them in designing internship experiences that not only fulfill academic requirements but also contribute meaningfully to the advancement of Indonesia’s fisheries and marine sector.
Not only that FPK UNAIR expands student’s International Oportunities through PKL 2026 MBKM program
