Peeking into Modern Fish Processing Technology at PT Bumi Menara Internusa

Bagikan

HIMATEKHIKAN Universitas Airlangga’s industrial visit to PT Bumi Menara Internusa (BMI) Dampit provided an opportunity for students to learn about seafood processing technology used in the company. One of the highlighted technologies is Individual Quick Freezing (IQF), a quick freezing method designed to keep seafood fresh without damaging the texture or quality of the product.

The students were invited to visit various production areas, from the fish sorting stage to the freezing process. They witnessed first-hand how fresh fish are selected and processed to very high standards to produce export-quality products. The IQF process is an important part in maintaining the freshness of the product, because fish frozen with this method does not experience damage to its meat fibers.

In addition to IQF technology, students were also invited to see how PT BMI implements strict hygiene protocols in the processing area. They saw first-hand the importance of implementing cutting-edge technology to ensure that products remain hygienic and of high quality.

With the knowledge they gained, students are expected to better understand the technology applied in the modern fishing industry and how this can be applied in the development of the fisheries sector in Indonesia.
