On Friday, October 24, 2025, the Ministry of Social Affairs of the Student Executive Board (BEM), Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences, Universitas Airlangga (FPK UNAIR), successfully held FISH-DO (Fisheries and Sharing Health) 2025 in collaboration with the Indonesian Red Cross Blood Transfusion Unit (PMI) Surabaya. The event, hosted in Building C.701, Campus C UNAIR, ran from 07:00 to 13:00 WIB and engaged both the academic community and the general public. FISH-DO 2025 embodied BEM FPK UNAIR’s ongoing mission to strengthen humanitarian values, foster social solidarity, and encourage students to participate in community care through concrete action.
BEM FPK UNAIR Strengthens Humanitarian Spirit Through FISH-DO 2025
The FISH-DO 2025 event was a tangible expression of the Ministry of Social Affairs’ commitment to social contribution and humanitarian education. By organizing a blood donation drive, the ministry sought to cultivate awareness of health and empathy while emphasizing the importance of helping those in need. This initiative went beyond social action—it became an educational platform for students to experience firsthand the meaning of humanitarian service in academic life.
During the event, volunteers from the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) worked alongside BEM FPK UNAIR to ensure smooth and safe implementation. The collaborative atmosphere reflected strong organizational discipline and student enthusiasm. Through the spirit of compassion, FPK UNAIR reaffirmed its dedication to fostering social engagement as part of its academic and community service pillars.
Active Participation and Successful Implementation
The event ran smoothly and drew remarkable enthusiasm from participants. According to reports from the organizing committee and PMI Surabaya, 66 individuals registered to donate blood during FISH-DO 2025. Of these, 27 participants successfully donated, while 39 others were unable to proceed due to medical considerations such as low or high hemoglobin levels, fatigue, minor injuries, or recent medication use.
Throughout the day, participants showed discipline and cooperation as they followed all instructions provided by the medical staff. The Ministry of Social Affairs team ensured that every aspect—from pre-donation preparation to post-donation recovery—was conducted safely and comfortably. PMI’s medical team also monitored the process to meet national health and safety standards, ensuring that each donation was both ethical and medically sound.
The event’s success reflected the spirit of solidarity and compassion among the university community, serving as a reminder that even small actions—such as donating blood—can make a significant difference in saving lives.
Sustaining the Culture of Empathy and Service
Through FISH-DO 2025, BEM FPK UNAIR aims to establish a sustainable culture of empathy and community care within the faculty. The ministry expressed hope that similar initiatives will continue in future years as part of ongoing social outreach and health awareness efforts.
The event exemplified that students are not only academic achievers, but also agents of change with a strong sense of responsibility toward societal welfare. With the theme “One Drop, a Million Hopes,” the campaign emphasized how collective action and compassion can bring hope and unity.
Thanks to the strong collaboration between the Ministry of Social Affairs, PMI Surabaya, and all participants, FISH-DO 2025 concluded successfully, safely, and meaningfully—proving that the spirit of giving remains at the heart of Universitas Airlangga’s academic community.
