“It is truly an honor and a profound source of pride for me to participate in Airlangga Maritime Week (AMW) — a prestigious event organized by Universitas Airlangga, particularly by the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences (FPK). Winning third place in the storytelling competition was an unexpected yet deeply meaningful achievement that I will always be grateful for,” shared one of the competition winners as they reflected on their experience in AMW 2025.
Participating in the competition became more than just an effort to win—it was a journey of growth, creativity, and self-discovery. The process involved in-depth research on current maritime issues, exploring how marine sustainability and innovation intersect with Indonesia’s future. The participant expressed that crafting the narrative required not only strong writing skills but also a deep understanding of the maritime world and the nation’s dependence on its oceans. Moreover, the event offered valuable opportunities to interact with fellow participants who shared similar aspirations, as well as judges who provided constructive feedback to help refine ideas and storytelling approaches.
Airlangga Maritime Week stands as a platform for education, inspiration, and collaboration—bringing together students, researchers, and young innovators to highlight the importance of the maritime and fisheries sectors in Indonesia. Through this event, participants were reminded that the marine ecosystem plays a crucial role in national development, and preserving it requires commitment and awareness from the younger generation. “This experience has deepened my understanding of how essential the ocean is to our country’s sustainability. As young people, we must carry the responsibility of protecting marine biodiversity and utilizing its resources wisely,” the participant emphasized.
