The Fisheries Product Technology Student Association SEMIKAT (Seni, Minat, dan Bakat) of Universitas Airlangga successfully organized SEBAT (Sehat Bersama SEMIKAT), a sports-based community engagement program involving the entire Fisheries Product Technology academic community, particularly the three youngest cohorts. Designed as a fun badminton match series, the initiative aimed to strengthen interpersonal bonds, foster unity among students, and promote physical fitness within the department. More than a recreational event, SEBAT reflects the student association’s commitment to supporting holistic academic development by balancing intellectual growth with physical well-being and organizational solidarity.
The SEBAT series officially commenced on Tuesday, April 16, 2025, marking the opening of the collective sports program. The inaugural badminton matches were carried out in a vibrant and enthusiastic atmosphere, with participants demonstrating high levels of sportsmanship, teamwork, and mutual respect. Students from different cohorts engaged actively, creating an inclusive environment that encouraged interaction beyond classroom activities. The event functioned as a platform for strengthening cross-cohort communication, reinforcing a sense of belonging, and cultivating a positive academic culture within the Fisheries Product Technology program. By integrating physical activity into student organizational programming, SEMIKAT supports the broader vision of the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine to nurture well-rounded graduates who excel academically while maintaining strong social and collaborative skills.
The second phase of SEBAT was conducted on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, maintaining the same badminton fun match format. During this stage, participant enthusiasm increased significantly, reflecting the success and positive reception of the initial session. Each cohort demonstrated stronger coordination, improved teamwork, and deeper camaraderie, highlighting the tangible impact of sustained extracurricular engagement. The activity also provided opportunities for leadership development, event management experience, and inter-batch collaboration, all of which contribute to strengthening student organizational capacity. Such initiatives align with the tridharma principles of higher education by fostering community building and promoting student well-being as integral components of academic life.
The final session took place on Monday, October 27, 2025, serving as the closing event of the SEBAT series. The concluding match became a memorable moment of togetherness for all participants, symbolizing strengthened solidarity and shared experiences built throughout the year. The entire program was conducted smoothly, orderly, and without significant obstacles. Beyond functioning as a sports competition, SEBAT became a meaningful platform for maintaining relationships among members of the Fisheries Product Technology community at Universitas Airlangga. Overall, the SEBAT (Sehat Bersama SEMIKAT) series was successfully implemented and is expected to continue as a regular program to further enhance unity, strengthen organizational ties, and cultivate a spirit of solidarity within the Fisheries Product Technology environment.
