Learning in Different Ways, Growing Through Meaningful Experiences
The education-focused program of Social and Learning Activity with Morality for Nation (SALMON) was held on August 6–7, 2026, at SDN Begaganlimo. Bringing together students from Grades 1 to 6, the activity was designed to provide a learning experience that was closer to children’s everyday world through games, creativity, literacy activities, and challenges that encouraged them to think actively.
From Games and Creativity to Challenges that Sharpen Skills
Over the two-day program, each grade level participated in activities tailored to their stage of development. Students in Grades 1 to 3 explored learning materials through quizzes, literacy activities, collage-making, and games such as Memory Test, Brain Test, and Fun Quiz. Meanwhile, students in Grades 4 to 6 took on a wider range of challenges, from writing poems and creating collages to mathematics games and brain tests. The activities were complemented by creative projects, including pasporasea and flash cards, as well as decorating a reading corner together.
Sharpening Skills, Building the Courage to Try
For the students, these challenges were not simply about getting the right or wrong answer. They involved remembering, trying again, discussing ideas with friends, and having the confidence to present their work in front of others. On the second day, for example, students in Grades 1–3 strengthened their skills through Memory Test, Brain Test, and Fun Quiz, while students in Grades 4 and 5 participated in Brain Test, Fun Quiz, and mathematics challenges using Rubik Math. Grade 6 students also took part in a Fun Brain Test using toothpicks and coins, allowing them to directly explore ways to solve problems.
“The older students are only here to teach you for a short time. However, what we hope and pray for is that the knowledge we share can become lasting provisions to accompany you throughout your learning journey,” said Alief Fibi Yanto, Head of the SALMON 2026 Education Division.
More than simply introducing educational games, Smart Learning Camp provided a space for students to learn through experience. They were encouraged to develop curiosity, creativity, critical thinking skills, and the courage to try. This approach aligns with SDG 4 (Quality Education), which emphasizes the importance of quality education and the holistic development of learners’ abilities.
Ultimately, Smart Learning Camp left students with more than worksheets and creative outputs. It also offered the experience that learning can take place in enjoyable and meaningful ways. Through this program, SALMON sought to create a learning environment where children could see that trying, asking questions, playing, and creating are all essential parts of the process of continuous growth.
